Attitudinal Healing and Recovery - Nishan Foundation
Pakistan
In 2007, a mentor friend brought Attitudinal Healing and other western models of healing to a young medical doctor, Talat Habib, in Islamabad. Dr. Habib began to use the Principles of Attitudinal Healing in his own life and, finding it life changing, incorporated Attitudinal Healing into his treatment model at Nishan, a Treatment Facility in Islamabad specializing in Addictions and Recovery. The 90 day inpatient program blends the Principles and the Attitudinal Healing Peer Support Group Model with the 12-step Minnesota Model.
Addiction is a chronic, often relapsing brain disease that causes compulsive drug seeking and use, despite destructive consequences to a substance abuser life and to those around him/her. Although the initial decision to take drugs is voluntary for most users, the brain changes that occur over time challenge an addicted person’s self-control and hamper his or her ability to resist intense impulses to take drugs.
The entire professional staff at Nishan uses Attitudinal Healing in their work as well as personal lives and serve as a positive demonstration model. Participants are often trained to become Facilitators for both inpatient and outpatient support groups as part of their ongoing healing. Dr. Talat travels around the world teaching others to implement his unique and effective treatment model.
