Project Grace
Project Grace organizes service trips for grieving mothers, fathers and families. Participants come together in a supportive environment for the dual purpose of honoring a loved one and serving a community in need. Whether they are singing songs with the children of an orphanage, handing out food and clothing to the families living at the Puerto Vallarta dump in Mexico, or helping to build a school in Nicaragua, the goal is to help Project Grace participants find strength, hope and a renewed sense of purpose through dedicating their time and hearts to a meaningful endeavor.
Laughter, friendship, tears and treasured moments are all a part of the experience as participants share their stories, offer compassion and support to one another, and work together to provide tangible aid to an impoverished community.
“During the grieving process we feel so many different things, but what I feel the most is that our broken hearts allow us to love more deeply and live in the moment." Norma Neeley, Project Grace Participant
Inspired by the documentary film, Motherland, which posed the question, “Is there healing in helping others?”, Project Grace was founded for the purpose of offering persons in grief the opportunity to honor a loved one through service. This program has been named in honor of Grace Caldwell Magill (June 26, 1989 - January 1, 2005), the daughter of one of the participants featured in Motherland.
